I was recently working "The Floor". I know probably most of you don't do that anymore. But I still feel the need. Anyway, the way it works at our office is the receptionist and the "floor person" take calls and set up showing appointments for agents who call in. I took a call from an agent wanting to set up an appointment. There was a miss-communication that took place. He told me his name, I looked up what I thought he was saying (Brad Ford) and couldn't find him in the system. I had him repeat his name again and looked through other routes. Still couldn't find it. I had him repeat it again. By now he's getting impatient and tells me "I've been doing real estate here in St Augustine for 17 years". Okay what was your name again? Now he's getting very indignant and I'm starting to get a little indignant myself. After all I'm an agent too...not in it 17 years...but long enough to know what I'm doing. Anyway without be-laboring the subject I never could find his name but I figured out later his name wasn't Brad Ford it was Bradford (name has been changed for illustration). He became very rude in the process of this interaction and it was just a simple miss-understanding. Point being remember when your on the phone with someone they are human too and therefore subject to human error. In my case I wasn't even getting paid to talk to Mr. Bradford. I was basically doing him a favor. So take from this what you will.
