Great news, I just got a notification from the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Housing Starts Rise and Builder Confidence Improves.
“Nationally, housing starts rose 2.8 percent in January to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 591,000, up from 575,000 in December, and they were 21.1 percent higher than the January 2009 rate of 488,000, the U.S. Commerce Department reported this morning. “
New home sales have increased in St. Augustine, Florida too. According to Jackie Matthews, new home agent with Mattamy Homes, she showed a record number of sales in January. It was one of the best sales months in her Kings Trace neighborhood in a long time.
I believe the tax credit has help increase the demand for new homes in St. Augustine. I have had several new home customers since the first of the year. The spec inventory in St. Augustine is beginning to dry up as buyers snap the builder homes that have amazing incentives.
According to the latest NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index another source of Builders encouragement is the improving employment market, which is key to any economic or housing recovery.
If you are looking for homes for sale in St. Augustine, you can find a great deal right now. Interest rates are low, and selection is GREAT. There hasn’t been a better time to buy homes in St. Augustine!
